As the shift towards driving electric vehicles is becoming more and more is gaining momentum, more information about EV drivers is also available. For example, we know where they buy their electric vehicle, where they live and what kind of car they drive.
Cities versus suburbs
Whether large and small cities or rural areas - electric vehicles can be found everywhere. Most drivers of electric vehicles live in the suburbs and cities. 44 per cent of the participants in the survey would have chosen their place of residence as suburbia. 37 per cent say they live in a city. 19 per cent describe their place of residence as rural.
According to the survey of drivers of electric vehicles, the typical EV driver has a private parking space for his vehicle. Most drivers (80 per cent) park their electric vehicles in a private driveway or private garage. 11 per cent park their car publicly on the street and 8 per cent use a special parking space in a garage or parking lot. Only 1 per cent use a communal parking lot in a garage.
Most participants drive with their Electric vehicles 15,000 to 25,000 km/year (28 per cent). One quarter (26 per cent) of the survey participants are travelling with
his vehicle 25.000 to 50.000 km/ year, while 18 per cent are driving their car about 10,000 to 15,000 km/year. One quarter (24 per cent) drives less than
Among EV drivers the battery electric vehicle (BEV) is the most common car type. More than two-thirds of the respondents (66 per cent) drive this type of battery-powered car. A quarter (24 per cent) have a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
Most respondents have fully switched to electric: less than half (45 per cent) say they still have a petrol or diesel the second car and 40 per cent say they have no second car at all. 15 per cent of respondents even have a second EV. 85 per cent of the time, second cars are used privately (not for work), whereas 15 per cent of respondents use their second car for business purposes.
The most popular car brand from respondents is the Tesla Model S, followed by the Renault Zoe and Tesla Model 3.
